Surimi Forum Director Jae Park organized and hosted the first-ever Japan Surimi Forum in Tokyo from July 20-21. The forum drew over 100 guests from around the world. Executives attended to listen to a line-up of some of the most knowledgable experts in the sector discussing demand and supply forecasts, as well as technological innovations in the field. Hisashi Nozaki, Senior R&D Technical Councilor, of Japan's Kibun Foods, the world's largest surimi seafood producer, opened the event. Richard Draves, VP at American Seafoods, took a look back at the U.S. pollock industry and discussed coming changes in supply. In-between speaker sessions, executives networked with their surimi industry colleagues. Executives make new connections and meet with long-time business partners. Shivram Warrior, East India Surimi Company, delivered a presentation on the growing Indian surimi industry. Louis Kusol, Deputy Managing Director of Long Sheng (Yuhuan) Aquatic Products Co. Ltd. -- China's largest surimi producer -- discussed his country's prospects with the panelists.
