French smoker and processor MerAlliance’s plan to build a land-based salmon farm in France appears to be dead.
MerAlliance was planning an onshore salmon farm in Brittany in a bid to have its own supply of “high quality” raw material.
Plans were put on hold after Thai Union's acquisition of Meralliance in September 2014 and then all went quiet.
But now the company has broken its silence on the matter with a spokesperson telling IntraFish the project has been abandoned.
