Thai shrimp prices down
Thai shrimp prices to the farmers have come down, giving Thai processors and edge over Ecuador in the market, said an executive with a large processor.
In the last few weeks, Thai prices have come down to THB 110 (€2.69/$3.56) to THB 115 (€2.81/$3.73), from THB 150 (€3.67/$4.86), he told IntraFish. This is for 60 count size shrimp.
For buyers, these prices compare well to prices from Ecuador, the second largest exporter to Thailand.
The Ecuadorian companies were offering cheap prices at the start of the year, particularly in Spain, said the Thai source.
