Belarus seafood giant Santa Bremor, a producer of salmon products under the "Russian Sea" brand, has suspended its supply of salmon to the Russian market because of its inability to access Norwegian salmon following the start of the war in Ukraine.

According to the Russian Fish Union, which represents several large Russian processors and traders, Santa Bremor had until recently used salmon from Norway in some Russian-market products.

“But with the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine and a new wave of sanctions, this channel, like the supplies of Faroese salmon, was closed,” Alexander Panin, executive director at the Russian Fish Union, said.
