THE PACIFIC salmon industry in British Columbia, western Canada, has been supplying canned salmon to the United Kingdom and other markets for about 125 years.
In the mid 1800s, traders at the Hudson Bay Co. at Fort Langley, on the Fraser River, were buying salmon from First Nations fishers along the river to salt and trade.
