Carter – a New Zealand national – was living in Taiwan teaching English when he was employed to hold English conversations with local Taiwanese businessman JC Chou. An engineer by profession, Chou had been helping his brother set up a series of seafood stalls in Taipei and was in the process of upgrading to restaurants. The pair needed a subject to talk about, so Chou picked seafood and the rest, as they say, is history.

With a strong work ethic and a commitment to working with the Chinese communities where Elite's tilapia farms are situated, Carter and his team have broken the mold of Chinese tilapia production -- an achievement Elite's high profile customer base is testament to.
